The day of the dead

On tuesday the weather had cleared up and I was full of energy again. I decided it was the perfect day to visit the very well to do dead people in town. I headed off to the very famous Recoletta Cemetary.

Recolleta is very famous for not only the people that are buried there but also for the way in which they are buried. The whole cemetary consists of Mussoleums . These are tombs that are above ground, but at Recoletta they also go below ground as well and can be upto seven levels under ground. Some of them hold entire families who have passed away.

All the grave sites are very well designed and alot are taken care of extremely well.

Another thing that the cemetary is famous for is the grave of Eva Peron, a political figure from the 1930's and 1940's. Her coffin was snuck into the cemetary many years after she died and placed in her families tomb.

The cemetary also has some very alive residents too.... there are 100's of cats that live in the cemetary and they all look very well fed. I am sure they were left there to eat any mice or rats that might come into the cemetary.

I spent the rest of tuesday walking through the Buenos Aires design centre, where people go to shop for their furniture. Much like the types of shops that I have been working in.
